The refurbishment of BRANZ’s research site includes construction of the Nikau building, the only major new building in the refurbishment.
The goal for the Warren and Mahoney/Beca team was to turn the existing BRANZ campus buildings into a modern workplace environment embodying the culture and philosophy of the BRANZ organisation.
With most staff required to move office and everyone needing to work while construction activities are carried out, good communications have been crucial during the BRANZ refurbishment project.

After much anticipation, the builders have left, the ribbon has been cut and BRANZ staff have moved back into the newly refurbished Totara building – the final stage of the $11.4 million site upgrade.
The latest thinking in office design is being incorporated into the refurbishment of BRANZ’s main building, delivering an inter-connected and energy-efficient working space.
Due to careful planning, the removal of asbestos roofing from the administration building at BRANZ ran smoothly with no hazards logged from either staff or contractors.
