Factory-

metal
claddings
FACTORY-COATED METAL CLADDINGS are roof and wall cladding products that have an organic coating factory applied to the metallic substrate of aluminium or steel. The coating enhances durability, performance and appeal.
The performance of factory-coated metal claddings depends on a number of factors. Bulletin 595 Factory-coated metal claddings outlines the coating process, the coatings available and what to consider when specifying, installing and maintaining factory-coated claddings.
It covers corrosion zones and risk factors to consider, including the compatibility of a range of materials in contact with the metal claddings or subject to run-o .
Bulletin 595 replaces Bulletin 488 Coil- coated metal claddings and Bulletin 318 Care of coil-coated claddings.

Advocating for residential properties
An advocacy group set up by the Property Council will use its commercial know-how to push for a better result with residential planning and funding.
Details
PROPERTYCOUNCILNEWZEALAND has launched a residential arm, the Residential Develop- ment Council. It has been established to highlight residential development and investment as a driver of economic growth, employment, prosperous cities, empowered communities and social progress.
The Residential Development Council is a network of quali ed and experienced industry experts who want sound policies and legislation that address critical issues facing New Zealanders today.
Its focus is on:
● better urban planning – establishing a
robust planning system that results in fewer delays, more certainty and consist- ent consenting practices
● less bureaucracy – targeting inconsistent and poorly designed rules and regulations that discourage development
● infrastructure – future-proof investment in national infrastructure through aligned and integrated central and local govern- ment strategies
● rigorous data – setting up a comprehensive knowledge base that decision makers can use to draw reliable information from during the policy-making process
● good urban design that produces high- quality and sustainable communities for New Zealanders and is also well integrated with adjoining planning rules.
Property Council Chief Executive Connal Townsend says there has never been a more apparent need for a residential
development and investment advocacy body.
‘The launch of the council comes as the residential sector navigates a maze of convoluted central and local government legislation and regulations that undermine e orts to deliver houses.
‘We are here as an advisory body to o cial decision makers during policy making. We have the commercial know- how, on-the-ground experience and market intelligence. We are saying consult with us and help us deliver better housing solutions for New Zealanders.
‘We are also a conduit between developers and investors as our sector lacks signi cant scale. For cities such as Auckland and its substantial housing shortage, we need investors to help meet the demand.
‘Investors o er the capital needed to build on a larger and more viable scale while providing the means to o er alternative forms of tenure and home ownership over time.’
